My name is Michael Tobin, I am a retired electrician.

I began my electrical careers journey in the Air Force in 1965 where I received training in digital data communications troubleshooting and routing.
 
In 1966 I became a member of the AUTODIN Tech Control facility at McClellan AFB in Northern California just north of Sacramento.

McClellan was an Air Material supply oriented base that provided repairs to aircraft that saw duty in Vietnam. There were 25,000 civilian employees' at McClellan working around the clock for the war effort. I was one of the 2500 military contingent on the base.

My work in the AUTODIN facility gave me great knowledge of computers and there ability to communicate on a world wide level. I was one of the 1st persons to communicate with a southeast Asia location using the Department of Defense's 1st geo-synchronous satellite Comsat's "Early Bird".

Leaving the Air Force in February 1969 It took me three years bouncing from one career field to another
before getting a job as an electricians helper.
