Spreadsheet Dieting
The Short Story!

Dieting requires discipline. Lots of it, in fact! I have been dieting since August 10th, 2007. I weighed 281.5 pounds that day and as of April 9th, 2008 I have lost 47.4 pounds. I don't know if this is any kind of big deal or not, because this is the first time I ever dieted. What I do know is that I am losing the weight by just counting calories. No exercise whatsoever, except maybe walking the dog a block or less.

If you want to lose weight like the way I am, there are some things you need!

I had a problem with Beer once, I rented a lot of it. I was in electrical construction, and would stop in a tavern at the end the day, down a few cold ones, get some travelers, and slam them down on the drive home. Most other times there was a five gallon bucket sitting on the passengers side icing down a dozen for the commute.

I was in a lot of pain, and just knowing there was something cold for me to slam back made the workday possible.

I was doing mostly sub-contracting work and needed to account for my time. Composition books were a good place to throw all the facts at, so I got into the habit of writing down all the stuff that filled my day. Everything! I started to count everything, where I had breakfast, how long it took, how much I spent, how much I tipped, and if there was a parking meter where I dined, I wrote that down too.

I had to figure out a way to get all this data into a workable order. Something that would take all this information from me, throw it into a particle collider, and kick it all back out at me in some kind of rational order.

I had been working on a spreadsheet estimating software package that would be a perfect place for all this data to go. Artisan`s Estimating so I could develop a means to keep all this documentation

After a couple of years of writing developed a spreadsheet program that could keep track of all my time and expenses.
